Opening on June 28, Summer Forecast is the first gallery show curated by Tatum Dooley for Dianna Witte Gallery in Toronto. Dooley, who also runs the online curatorial project Canadian Art Forecast, actively strives to create a more robust and engaged art ecosystem in Canada by featuring emerging artists that don’t typically receive mainstream attention.
“Personally, I’ve found that in posting a daily work of art I’ve found my taste shift dramatically,” she says. “I realized that my taste was based on a Western art canon that prized white men as ‘masters’…I began to challenge what I believed my ‘taste’ in art to be and I’ve found my appreciation and knowledge of all types of art to be flourishing.”
The show runs until July 23 and features work by Darby Milbrath, Keiran Brennan Hinton. Caitlyn Murphy, and Corri-lynn Tetz. Dianna Witte Gallery is located at 1142 Queen St E.
